Spurger waits just outside the doors.

Torches and fire are lit—Viking music playing. Process out to the circle.

HPS invites the initiate to enter the circle and proceed to the altar.

Circle caster casts the circle.

Blade raised 3 times clockwise:

“By our will, the circle is cast; the boundary is set.”

Hp hallows the space.

“Hammer of Thor, hallow and hold this holy stead.

We call to the dwarves that hold up the sky.”

Quarters

North: “Nordri, send your strength to protect those within. Hail and welcome.”

South: “Sudri, send the heat of passion to fortify the path of kindness. Hail and welcome.”

East: “Austri, send the bright light of your intellect to heal us all. Hail and welcome.”

West:  “Vestri, send us your coolness that we may think clearly. Hail and welcome.”

Hp:

“Welcome to this sacred space. We have one among us who shall dedicate themselves to the path of kindness and Norse traditions.”

Initiate invokes their chosen gods and throws their wheel into the fire. (The wheel was fashioned of sticks, herbs, and flowers by the initiate.)

Cord ceremony

HP:

“We have heard your words and respect your dedication. Are you prepared to vow before the Grove that you will follow the path of kindness to the best of your ability?

Initiate answers in their own words.

HPS:

“And to those of us gathered here, do each of you vow to assist this dedicant in staying on this path to the best of your ability?”

Attendees howl and cheer.

HP:

“Then let us take your measure and gird your hips for this journey.”

The initiate is asked to step on the end of a cord, the cord is brought to their full height, and cut off.

HPS:

“We present you with this athame to help with the challenges ahead. May you be well prepared to move forward on your path”

HPS ties the cord around the initiate and attaches the sheath with the athame using the Knot of Hercules.

Attendees are asked to repeat: “We wish you Healing and Protection on your way.”

Naming ceremony

HP Karl:

“At this time, you have the option to choose a new name. There is no obligation, but is there a name you would like to share with us?”

Initiate answers.

Introduction ceremony.

Initiate is introduced to each of the directions, then to the sky, the ground, the spirit, and the moon by their new name.

Initiate pulls 3 runes for a message from Spirit.

HPS:

“Hear ye, hear ye. Matthew's first year has ended. The new year begins.

Dismiss the Quarters.

HP:

“We thank you for your service, dwarf brothers of the sky. Go now and harm none on your way. Hail and farewell.”

All sing: The circle is open but unbroken; may the peace of the goddess be ever in your heart. Merry meet, and merry part, and merry meet again.

Now we enter the hall for feasting, gifts, and words of encouragement for the new dedicant. Huzzah.
