Hurricane Protection Ritual 11

All participants come into the circle carrying their non-perishable offering and a rattle. “Riders on the Storm plays”.
They place their offering in the sacred shopping cart as they go around, finding a chair in the circle.
When everyone is in their seats, Cleanser circles clockwise once more with Florida water, followed by Sealer, who seals the circle with a piece of masking tape on each person's shoulder while everyone rattles.
HPS… “Welcome to our 11th annual Hurricane Protection Ritual. Protection NOT Prevention. As Pagans, we respect the Weather Spirits and appreciate their place in Nature. Crone Hurricane spins Widdershins, and her destruction churns Life from the bottom of the ocean to the land. Just please, Grandmother, may our homes not get in your way. Lady Florida, will you lead us in a call-and-response to that end?”
Lady Florida

So Mote It Be! GONG
HPS… Give us FIRE!!!
***The fire is lit***
Participants rattle, howl, and sing “Fire Transform Me” as the fire grows. When the energy peaks GONG
HPS… Let’s all chant together. Calling the quarters and building energy, repeating five times, and GONG
" In the East, the Wind is rustling" X5 (GONG)
“ In the South, the Fire is Raging" X5 (GONG)
" In the West, the Water is rising" X5 (GONG)
" In the North, the Earth is rumbling" X5 (GONG)
HPS… " SILENCE! Breathe. Here in the eye of the storm, the Spirit is calm. We have a reprieve in which to do our magick. I have prepared sachets of herbs and the black salt we made as a healing for the Ocean. We will give these to the fire, as an offering to our old friend, Crone Hurricane. In addition to the healing black salt, the sachet contains cinnamon, lavender, chamomile, and lemon balm to attract abundance and enhance intuition. This is the 11th time we are performing this ritual.
The Number 11 relates to intuition, spiritual awareness, and enlightenment. It serves as a messenger from the universe, transmitting higher wisdom and cosmic truths to guide humanity. Often called the 'intuitive visionary,' it can have insights without relying on rational thought and is highly attuned to energy and emotion.
HPS… You may now give your offerings to the fire.”
HP... Please, Crone Hurricane, accept this offering to sweeten the disposition, calm the spirit, and turn the sound of thunder into shouts of praise. Will you speak to us?
Crone Hurricane -
For ages, I have moved away from the coast out to the Sea. Warmed by the Sun, the air prompts the ocean to release moisture, forming rain clouds. I will dance to Earth's rhythm, spinning with that enticing pull. Growing faster and spiraling inward, I become stronger, ready to churn the ocean floor. As I go, I scatter water, seeds, and life. I am brilliant! Can't you see? I am a force of nature, immense and powerful. There was a time when my forecast caused humans to flee. Unlike other animals, humans now build their homes to withstand me. ME? Is that a challenge? No, my stubborn little creatures, I take no offense. Nature isn't good or evil; it just is. Lately, I've heard pleas from those who stand with my friend Lady Florida. Lady F and I are old friends. Let's strike a deal—I'll do my best to work over the ocean, where I find my happiness. I'll try to calm myself as I approach your land. But be cautious, act wisely, prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. This annual event in my name is a charming tradition—11 years running, impressive. I especially like the part when the Bard tells that story.
The Bard
The well-known story of The Ant and the Grasshopper depicts a grasshopper spending summer dancing and playing his fiddle, neglecting winter preparations because he feels secure with his ample food. Later, he faces the consequences of his oversight. The core lesson is clear: those who take initiative and prepare are favored by the goddess. This story also offers deeper lessons, including a gentle warning. If we were like the Ant, hoarding and refusing help to others in need, would that be just? While the Ant’s warnings and pleas are understandable, should he be the one judging others’ suffering? What about forgiveness, kindness, and compassion? The grasshopper might not see the danger but can learn for next time. Ultimately, it’s not the Ant’s place to judge—the goddess’s blessings are meant for all. Genuine generosity, rooted in faith in her abundance, will be returned threefold if heartfelt. We have all been both the Grasshopper and the Ant; only her love sustains us. Be generous, pay it forward, and enjoy her abundance. Blessed Be.
HPS… Concentrate on the sacred shopping cart. Send your wishes for clear skies and gentle winds. Affirm your determination for safe journeys through any storm. Do so with gratitude, trusting that in times of need, blessings will come. As the Prosperity spell states – “May the gifts we have bestowed return to us tenfold, or even more! So mote it be.”
HP… Everyone, please stand. Let us proceed clockwise to pick up our “cakes and ale” and ask Mother Gaia to bless us.
“Earth Mother Song” plays
When everyone is back in place, Mother Gaia blesses the feast.
“Clean water in a time of need becomes more precious than the finest mead. May our cup always be full.”
“Plain crackers in danger’s wake become far sweeter than the richest cake. May we always know abundance.”
HP… "You may offer a portion to the Lady, Mother, Crone, and burn your cups in the fire."
HPS… "Let us thank the Powers that Be for their kind attention to our situation."
Lady Florida…
“We thank you, Great Mother,
for your attentive care on this clear night
regarding a future that may not look so bright.
Hail and farewell!”
Mother Gaia…
“We thank you, Lady Florida,
for your attention now,
so that on a future date
We won't worry about our fate.
Hail and farewell!”
Crone Hurricane – This is a commendable group. I declare The Grove SFL and all they cherish protected by Gaia, Lady F, and myself, as long as they adhere to the Hurricane Safety Guidelines and observe my ritual during my season. Acknowledge my existence and join me in a Dance of Balance, and I will say, "May your windows hold!"
HP… Please repeat after me
Earth may rumble. (Earth may rumble)
Water may rise. (Water may rise)
Fire may rage. (Fire may rage)
Wind may rustle. (Wind may rustle)
But the Goddess helps those who help themselves.
(But the Goddess helps those who help themselves)
Hail and farewell. (Hail and Farewell)
HPS… "May all things work toward the greater good.
Keep us safe. So mote it be!" (so mote it be)
HP… "May all entities attracted by this rite be on their way and go in peace." (Go in peace)
All Participants sing to open the circle
By the Earth that is Her body
By the Air that is Her breath
By the Fire that is Her bright spirit
By the Living Waters of Her womb
May the Peace of the Goddess be forever in your heart
This circle is open but unbroken
Merry meet and merry part
And Merry Meet Again!
